Thinking of you

Many years ago, Marc and I were in Brussels for a very short time between flights.  Though it was a brief visit, it was nonetheless truly pleasant. It horrifies us to think what these kind, peace-loving people are going through now.  We wish to extend our condolences to the families of those who were killed and injured in the Brussels terrorist attacks. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Yoshi and Oso

Hello friends,

If you've had a chance to read about the sad loss of our sweet Peanut this past May (see 'Pet Peeves' tab above), you'll understand when we tell you that we had a difficult time after his passing.  When you're used to having a pet in the house, things are just not the same without one.

Peanut
This February, I turned sixty (yes, I know!!), and Marc mentioned it might be a good time to get another dog.  He suggested we get two, actually, so they could keep each other company.  After much

Juanita Is Back!

Yes, it's been a long three years since I've written.  If you were following this blog until a couple years ago, you'll know that Marc and I took a three-year break from traveling.  We purchased a house three years ago and opted to stick around to do much-needed renovations.  Of course, it's hard to blog on a travel blog when you're not traveling, right?

Fast-forward three years and we are more than ready to hit the road.  Of course, it's now March, so

Canada, Here We Come!

Believe it or not, it is that time again...!  Our six months in the south have come to an end and we are heading home to Ottawa.

We enjoyed our time in the Florida Panhandle, but found it a wee bit colder than we hoped it would be.  The weather was also unpredictable, with several tornado and severe storm warnings.  We could definitely have done without that particular excitement.

The highlight of the winter was, by far, a visit by our daughter, her fiance Noka, and our two grandbabies, Aidan and Cerys.  We will cherish the memories forever.

I will not be posting until we head south again.  We wish all our readers the very best till then.  Stay Safe!

Spring is in the Air...

As we (slowly) begin to think about our return to Canada, our family and friends have begun to update us on the weather situation in the Ottawa area.

There have been mild days and there have been cold days, but there have also

A Public Service Message...

As far as blog posts go, this hardly qualifies, but if you asked Marc, he would say it is just about the most important post ever!  So here goes....

If you are a fan of peanut butter - specifically Kraft Peanut Butter - you may believe, as we have for the past few years, that it is just impossible to find in

Is This Truly Florida?

This post is slightly uncharacteristic for me, but I nonetheless felt the need to express myself.  My husband and I chose to stay near Pensacola (in the north-west area of Florida) this winter, as neither one of us is a big fan of

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder...

How true, at least according to a five-year-old!  We were spending some fun time at Navarre Beach, walking along the seashore, looking for seashells.  This was Aidan's very first time in

Golfing with Grandpa...

This being a KOA park, there are all sorts of things for children to do.  Marc took Aidan to the mini-golf, played a round, then we all joined them and headed to the playground.  Got some good pictures and had lots of laughs.  Tomorrow, should the weather permit, we are planning to hit the beach, then the heated pool for a swim.

Yes, they made it!

What a sight to see!  Nat, Noka, and our two grandaughters at our door!  It turns out they opted to take a different route than the one we had suggested, and ended up driving approximately 7 hours more than

It Rained Cats and Dogs and Baby Elephants...

Yes, it was this bad!  (No, we do not know these two wet ducks...)

Although we had attended the Pensacola Grand Parade this past Saturday, yesterday - Mardi Gras - we awoke to a grey day and decided, while enjoying our morning coffee,

It's Mardi Gras Time!!

Woo Hoo!!  That is what we heard yesterday - for three hours, non-stop!  And we wouldn't have missed it for the world!  Although the parade started at 2:00 p.m., we arrived at noon, like

When It Rains...

This morning, we were awakened by rain and nasty wind whipping at our awning.  Marc (literally) jumped out of bed, while I slowly stood - LOL - and ran outside to
