This attraction is more than worth the $14 entrance fee. A short 10 miles or so took us into the
Sonora Desert, just west of Tucson. The museum is a "living museum," its inhabitants well cared for in their natural environment: the Sonora Desert.

There were all types of animals, including snakes, spiders, amphibians, as well as rocks and minerals and lovely cactus and butterfly gardens.

A winding path through the desert takes you through the various displays and gardens, ending where your walk began. Although it was only 18 degrees celcius on this particular day, it felt more like 30 degrees out in the desert sun. A hat and sunscreen are definitely in order here.

The staff are well informed, helpful and very attentive to the animals in their care. Unlike a zoo, the animal "enclosures" are several acres in size, giving the animals plenty of room to live as they would in the wild.

The museum is also hands-on, and I was able to pet a black King Boa.

If you really want to spend a lovely day surrounded by so much incredible beauty, this museum is a must-see!
Wow! Exactly how big was that spider? It looked quite large in the photo. Beautiful pictures.

Actually, it was BIG!...about the size of a regular bar of soap (not in weight, of course).
