That's wind!

Most of you know that Marc and I are from Canada;  specifically Ontario.  As I write this, my fellow Canadians are most-likely shoveling their driveways prior to heading off to work, while I'm here, in

Thar she blows!!!

Things are much quieter today here in Alabama.  We suffered through three very windy days which culminated in more than thirty tornadoes yesterday, within just a few miles from our location.  Sadly five people were killed and several others injured.

The winds here at the RV park were strong.  Our neighbours weren't in their motorhome during the worst of it, but we watched their awning whip open, then closed several times;  it very frightening.  We were expecting the thing to detach and fly into our living room window.

Let me tell you, I got very little sleep over the last two days.  You know the saying:  When the RV's a rockin', don't come a knockin'?  Well, it was rockin' alright, but trust me, it was just the wind!  LOL

Until next time!

To All Non-Believing Canadians!

Hello friends,

We've been in Robertsdale for a week now.  We've done so much already, it feels like so much longer.  The landscape has changed drastically in the last five years;  we hardly recognize the area.

Let's start with stores.  Tanger Outlets are located south of our location, and did not disappoint.  In one day, we got through approximately one quarter of the total number of stores before giving up.  I stocked up on new socks and other personal clothing items.  Most of my purchases, however, were made at the kitchen store.  The prices were amazing, reminiscent of prices we used to see

Weekend with an old (and a new) friend!

It's not often we get to visit with this guy, but he called last week to say his work schedule would allow him to enjoy a three-day weekend, which he wished to spend with us.  We met Bob six years ago in Navarre, Florida and have since become long-distance friends.  We confess, more often than not, Bob is the one to make the long drive to visit with us.  This time,  he drove five hours from Georgia which, since taking a new job, he now calls home.

This time, though, Bob brought along his girlfriend, Kym, whom we'd never met.  Some people are

Made it to Robertsdale!

Hello friends,

Finally, after three long years without traveling, we're back on the road.  We started out on October 23, drove to Maryland (with one overnight stopover along the way) and spent a great week with our friends in Laurel.

I enjoyed some major shopping therapy with Shirley (a pro shopper, if there ever was one!), while Marc zipped around town with Mike, in his brand new Corvette.  What a beauty!

Decision Made!

After much consideration, we've decided on a destination for our upcoming six-month trip south.  We will be returning to Alabama, more specifically Robertsdale, Alabama.  Too often, when one mentions wanting to visit Alabama, the response they get is 'Why'?  Until you've actually spent time there, you wouldn't understand why.

Keep in mind that the State of Alabama borders the State of Florida.  So what's in an invisible line? Whether you've got one foot in Florida or one foot in Alabama, things are mostly the same.  Of course, there aren't as many tourist traps or bells and whistles in Alabama, but that's just fine with us.

The ocean is the same blue-green, our favourite beach being Orange Beach where we spend

Things to see along the way...

Hello travel enthusiasts,

In preparation for our October departure, Marc and I have begun researching things to see along the way.  Our first destination being Alabama, we are looking mostly along the Interstate 81 corridor.  So far, we've come up with the following:

1.  Abingdon Olive Oil Company
     https://abingdonoliveoilco.com/

We're certain there are many other wonderful places to visit, but we've yet to continue our research. Clearly, there is no rush to do so, and with gardening season almost upon us, we will most certainly be shelving our research until late summer.

In the meantime, if you know of interesting places to visit between northern New York and Alabama, along the I-81, please share.  We'd love to hear it!

Take care, friends.  Until next time...

Just to make you smile...

Hello friends,

Some of our readers may not know that Canada (specifically eastern Ontario and the province of Quebec) is well known for it's yummy maple syrup.  Trust me, when spring arrives, maple syrup season practically turns into a religion in these parts!

This morning, someone posted this on Facebook and I thought you might get a kick out of it!  Actually, it's pretty darn close to the truth!

Thinking of you

Many years ago, Marc and I were in Brussels for a very short time between flights.  Though it was a brief visit, it was nonetheless truly pleasant. It horrifies us to think what these kind, peace-loving people are going through now.  We wish to extend our condolences to the families of those who were killed and injured in the Brussels terrorist attacks. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
