Navarre Beach

Yesterday, we drove to Navarre Beach, centrally located on Santa Rosa Island, a strip of unincorporated land off the
Gulf of Mexico, just south of the City of Navarre.  Although the island is very long (20+ miles), it is quite narrow (width of about 2 city blocks).  Santa Rosa Island can be viewed from our park and is a short drive over a connecting bridge, just three blocks from our location.  At the east end of the island is a state park and to the west is a portion of the Gulf Islands National Seashore.  Unfortunately, this lovely island is often hit and repeatedly damaged by hurricanes.

This being our first trip there, we chose to visit the west side of the island.  It was sunny but very windy.  We enjoyed a good hour of shelling and walking along the seashore.
