we washed then spread out our bounty on our picnic table to dry. Four neighbours immediately came over to look over our find. One neighbour, who is an avid seashell collector, asked if we knew what was inside the sand dollar we had collected. He said each sand dollar has 5 doves hidden within it. Of course, we had never spoken to any of these people before, so we grinned and tried not to laugh out loud! I guess he saw we did not believe him and quickly returned to his RV to get the proof. While he was gone, the other neighbour mumbled under his breath that perhaps this guy had had a sip or two before crossing over!
Sure enough, the first guy returned with his doves in hand - 5 tiny porcelain-like doves! At the center of the underbelly of the sand dollar, there is an opening through which you can (barely) see 5 tiny white tips. When you gently break that opening with a hammer, 5 tiny doves fall out! I found an excellent picture which I offer to you as proof that nature is indeed wondrous, and we are definitely never too old to learn something new!
Wow! Very cool! I hope your Christmas dinner by skype, with family, goes well. All the best to you both! Cheers,

Hi Nancy! Yes, dinner went well, but turns out we had to use our backup: MSN. Hope you also had a great dinner with Len & your boys! xoxo
