Sedona, A Natural Wonder!

Wow!  There is no better way to describe Sedona, Arizona!  We have traveled to many lovely places over the years but none rival Sedona in beauty.  Of course, we expected to see
spectacular vistas, but were truly amazed by the sheer magnitude of the red rock mountains.  It is as though you "turn a corner" and are hit in the face with these magnificent red rocks.

Before arriving in Sedona proper, you come across the Verde Valley which, in itself, is spectacular.  Marc and I have seen nothing but brown sand and mountains for the past 5 weeks, so to suddenly find ourselves looking into such a beautiful green valley was truly wonderful.

The city of Sedona is relatively new-looking, with adobe homes dotting the mountains and lovely gated communities found at its center.  There is no doubt Sedona is an artist's paradise.  If you appreciate art of any kind, this is the place to visit, specifically the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village where there are over 45 galleries to choose from.

Sedona's five-star dining and wine country are certainly not to be rivaled, but another grand attraction to Sedona is the spa experience.  An ancient Native American prayer accurately defines the spa experience:  "May you walk in beauty above you, beauty below you, beauty behind you, beauty surrounding you."   There are also three known vortexes in Sedona which are "...believed to create positive, negative and neutral releases of the Earth's energy and evoke balance, a heightened sense of awareness and an awakening of the spirit." If you do not believe in this type of metaphysical-spiritual phenomenon, try climbing partway up one of the red rock mountains, sit for a bit, then let us know what you think.

We had originally planned to spend two days in Sedona but decided to have the emergency brake cable replaced on the truck and have extended our stay by three days.  Imagine our disappointment at having to spend a couple extra days in Paradise!
