Is This Truly Florida?

This post is slightly uncharacteristic for me, but I nonetheless felt the need to express myself.  My husband and I chose to stay near Pensacola (in the north-west area of Florida) this winter, as neither one of us is a big fan of
extremely hot temperatures.  My brother and sister-in-law spend six months in Bonita Springs, Florida (south-west Florida, near Naples) every winter and often complain about excessive heat/humidity.

The point of this post is that it turns out we are the ones who got the short end of the stick this winter.  The Forida Panhandle has seen an unusual amount of rain this year and, in our opinion, has been much cooler than we would have wanted.  Today, we are enjoying a lovely sunny day here in Milton, and we will cherish every minute of it.  We are hoping the weatherman is correct and that temperatures will continue to rise in the days to come.

Don't get us wrong!  If you are planning to visit this lovely area, do not let this stop you.  It has many positives and the beauty of the Gulf will grab your heart before you know it.  But just be warned that temperatures here can vary by 20 degrees in a matter of a few hours. So be sure to bring your woolies and your bikini!

Subsequent to this, we have decided to spend next winter in the central part of Florida where we will most likely enjoy more stable, milder temperatures.

  1. Central might be more stable, but then who knows

  2. You're right. The weather's been a wee bit erratic in the last few years.
