An Observation Or Two...

Before we leave Winter Haven and head north to Navarre,  I wanted to share with you what our daughter would call insignificant facts.  So, fair warning...this will not be mind-blowing stuff!

First of all, I would like to say
how friendly the people of Winter Haven are.  I don't mean just nice;  I mean genuinely friendly, helpful, chatty....need I go on?  You might be tempted to say that retiree dollars offer the needed incentive to be nice, but I choose to not believe this.  As for Marc's take on this?  He is convinced it's the weather!

The next point I would like to make has to do with the significant savings we see here on a daily basis.  For example, dinner for two at a family-type restaurant (i.e. Chili's) in Ottawa would cost in the range of $40 to $45.  In Florida (at least in our area), the bill is closer to $25.  Of course, it helps that taxes are 7% instead of 14%!

And if you are looking for fresh fruit and vegetables, you can find these in all supermarkets, of course, but your best bet is the smaller mom and pop market stalls or trucks found on so many street corners.  I think this photo is self-explanatory!
