It has been more than five years since Katrina destroyed a good portion of New Orleans and surrounding areas. Marc and I felt it was important that we visit the Lower Ninth Ward and see for ourselves how things have come along since the hurricane. We were devasted to discover that
the majority of that area has yet to be rebuilt. Most homes are inhabitable, although we are convinced some people are living there despite the mold problems.

We took some photos as inconspicuously as possible as we did not want to offend. In the middle of all this destruction, we came upon a cemetery which, in contrast to the rest of the area, seemed to have been mostly rebuilt.
In a time when so many countries are in need of our help, we have witnessed, in our own backyard, how so many are still suffering in a very real way, yet their spirit remains alive as they struggle to rebuild.
That's unacceptable, its not the peoples fault that a hurricane hit, the government should rebuild and give people hope.
ReplyDeleteThat makes too much sense!
