Twist and Shout!

We had not been to a casino in quite a while, so we decided to boondock in Biloxi, Mississippi, home of many excellent casinos, on our way to Arizona.   I strapped on
my fanny pack, made sure I had everything I would need for a night of fun, and off we went across the parking lot, headed in the direction of the Boomtown Casino.  And then, I lost my footing and twisted my ankle.  Badly.  Marc's best efforts to catch me were all for naught.  The damage was done.

My ankle was sore all evening (of course I went to the casino anyway!), the pain increasing as the night wore on.  I had twisted that same ankle twice before and figured it would heal within a day or two, so did not worry too much about the pain.  By the time we made our way back to the RV (about 3 hrs. later), there was a fair amount of swelling.

We were planning to leave for Arizona the next morning, but when I awoke, we immediately realized that would not happen.  My foot was twice its size and turning black.  Marc drove me to the local hospital where x-rays were taken and it was determined that although there was no break, the ligament was severally sprained.  My foot was wrapped in a tensor bandage, crutches were handed to me with instructions on how to use them, then off we went.  Of course, since we had not yet had breakfast, Marc wanted to take me to I-Hop.  Very funny!!!

If you have ever used crutches, you will know it is not as easy as it seems.  Apart from the concern about embarrassing myself by falling flat on my face, I had to contend with the pain my underarms were suffering.  By the end of the first day, my pits were black and blue!  So was our trip to the casino worth all this trouble, you may ask?  You betcha!
