View just outside Tucson, Az |
For three days before heading to Benson, Az., we stayed on
BLM land (Bureau of Land Management), approximately 7 miles outside of Tucson. We had boondocked (dry camping) before, but
always at a truck stop or a Wal-Mart but never as true boondockers, in the middle of the desert. We loved it!

Our chosen spot in the desert |
Talk about peace and quiet! There were a few other boondockers in the vicinity but none too close to us. The fun thing about this type of camping is the desert is your campground, and you can take as little or as much space as you wish. No one tends to crowd their neighbour. With our new solar panel, generator and extra battery backup, we were very comfy, even able to recharge our computers and watch a DVD in the evenings!

Barrel cactus a few steps from our RV |
Marc and I agreed that we had not slept so well as we did those three nights. Also, if you step outside your RV at night, you are greeted by a most beautiful sky! With no lights around to obstruct your view, all you see are stars. It makes your heart sing!
