A couple nights ago, we attended the first meal of the winter season, hosted by the Managers of the park. If you know me at all, you will know
this is not easy for me to do, but I forced myself to take a step outside my comfort zone, and attended.
The premise of this dinner is to introduce yourself to fellow campers and snowbirds. The first few minutes were very uncomfortable, with the two of us sitting all by ourselves at a table, at the back of the hall. Yep, Marc practically had to tie me down to stop me from running out of that rec room as quickly as my short legs would take me!
As it turns out, before we even took the first bite, a French-Canadian gentleman came over and invited us to join their table. They were sharing a table with an American couple who were hired as activities coordinators by the park.
What started out as a painful few minutes morphed into a fun couple of hours where we were regaled by funny stories of other snowbirds' adventures. We had plenty of laughs and can now actually name five or six of our fellow campers should we meet them in the park.
