Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center

A couple days ago, we attended the 23rd Annual Quilt Show at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center.  What a treat!  As a quilter myself, I enjoyed viewing the dozens of quilts on display and was honoured to cast my vote for my favourites, although in my view they were all works of art.

The biggest treat was to be had in the Stephen Foster Museum, where
a couple dozen antique quilts were on display.  The style of quilts reminded me of the beautiful work my grandmother used to do.

The Stephen Foster State Park is a beautiful park which showcases the Suwannee River.  Apart from lovely walking trails, one can sit under a gazebo to enjoy a picnic lunch, pitch a tent in the camping area, or walk amongst the lovely flower and herb gardens.  And if you feel like doing a bit of shopping, there are several quaint shops reminiscent of Upper Canada Village.  (Close-up picture below shows the intricate work that went into this particular quilt.)

The fee to access the park is a well-spent $5.  It was a very enjoyable day all around.
